Bloomington Murals

Bloomington Murals

On the exterior of the Hyatt Place Hotel in Bloomington Indiana, a series of murals extends the hotel interior's references to Indiana University, capturing the many disparate parts of the University and uniting them with the classic symbol of an arrow. An arrow represents growth, direction - or even a healthy lack of direction, and each mural incorporates ideas that symbolize the gathering, synthesizing and expression of ideas as part of preparation for lifeĀ¹s journey ahead.

Math incorporates geometry and angles, new perspectives; Science is ever-changing, reacting visually to observable stimuli. Music and Art are represented playfully, lyrically, full of rhythms and the possibility of discovery; Business is direct, to the point, yet literally breaking boundaries in its forward pursuit. Direction and misdirection graphically represented also gives a nod to Sports for which the University is nationally recognized. Throughout, a dominant use of crimson is used, one of Indiana University's school colors.
